Orders & Delivery Questions

 

Can I request a delivery date?

To request a preferred delivery date, please use the comment box just before checking out. *Please note that we will deliver as close to this date as possible.

Is there a minimum order value for delivery?

For local deliveries using our own refrigerated vans (Hampshire, surrounding counties, West London), the minimum order is £30.

When will my order arrive?

Orders placed before 2.30pm will receive next day delivery, subject to availability. Orders placed after this time will be assigned the next available delivery day. Local delivery days are available Monday to Saturday.

Which days of the week do you deliver?

Local delivery days are available Monday to Saturday, subject to areas.

Where do you deliver?

Our own vans deliver to Hampshire, the surrounding counties, and West London. See our delivery areas page for more information.

Can I track my order?

Local delivery (Owton’s vans): Tracking is not currently available

Can I modify my order after placing It?

Yes, we can modify your order. Please call us on 023 8060 0558 or send an email to homedelivery@owtons.com with your order number. If you are adding on items over £80, you can place a new order, use the comment section to advise of your original order and we can deliver both together.

Can I cancel my order?

Yes you can, please call us on 023 8060 0558 or send an email to sales@owtons.com with your order number. Your right to cancel starts when you place the order. Please note that as our items are perishable, we cannot accept cancellations after the point of despatch. We reserve the right to cancel your order due to unforeseen circumstances and we will ensure we contact you as soon as possible.

How long will my meat stay fresh once delivered?

Our fresh meat typically stays good in the fridge for 3–5 days after delivery if stored correctly. Each item comes with a use-by or best-before label. If you’re not using it right away, we recommend freezing it on the day of delivery to lock in freshness.

How is my order delivered?

Local deliveries are made by our own refrigerated vans. All of our meat is packed with ice blocks and lab tested to withhold up to 48 hours in transit.

What is the cut-off time for next-day delivery?

2.30pm, subject to product availability.

What happens if I’m not at home for my delivery?

Please do advise us if your allocated delivery day is not suitable – please use the options at checkout, call us on 023 8060 0558 or send an email sales@owtons.com with your order number. Owton’s do not take responsibility after the goods have been delivered as per the agreed terms

Local Delivery: If you are not home during delivery and we cannot get a hold of you, then your order will be returned to our factory.

What happens if a product is out of stock after I place my order?

In the rare event we run out of a specific cut, we’ll contact you to offer an alternative or a refund for that portion of your order before dispatch.

Do you deliver to Northern Ireland or outside the UK?

Unfortunately, we only deliver to addresses in England at the moment.

What to do with incorrect items?

I have an item missing, what do I do?

Items arrived damaged, what should I do?

Please call us on 023 8060 0558 or send an email to homedelivery@owtons.com with your order number. You will also need to provide photographic proof within 24 hours of delivery.

Can I collect my order from one of your farm shops?

Unfortunately not. If you would like to collect, please speak to the shop directly to place your order.

Is your packaging recyclable?

Our packaging is not currently recyclable, due to our sustainability commitments this is something we are working towards in the near future.

Can I make special requests?

You can make special requests at any of our farm shops. Please contact them directly.

Can I return items?

No, due to the nature of our product, we do not accept returns. If you have any queries in relation to your order, please call us on 023 8060 0558 or send an email to homedelivery@owtons.com with your order number.

What payment options do you accept?

We currently use Global Pay and accept Visa/Mastercard.

What are you customer service hours?

Our Home Delivery team are contactable between 9am-5pm, Monday – Friday.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes, we offer £5, £10 and £20 gift vouchers on our website.

 

Product Questions

 

Are your meats sourced sustainably?

Owton’s always strives to source sustainable meat from local suppliers.

Where do you source meats from?

Our meats are sourced from local suppliers where possible.

Do your products contain nitrate?

Owton’s meat does not contain any nitrates, however some of our traded products may do so. More information is available on request, please call us on 023 8060 0558 or send an email to homedelivery@owtons.com

Is your meat fresh and is it suitable for freezing?

All our of products are produced fresh and are suitable for freezing. Please be advised we will send frozen items out if this is the only stock we have on hand.

Are any of your products gluten-free?

Do you sell Halal, Kosher or speciality diet meats?

In regard to Halal and Kosher meat, this is something we offer our customers. Due to stock and online availability, we recommend that you get in touch with us before placing an order so that we can advise on the right products.

Can I order a mixed meat box?

Yes! We offer quality butchered meat selection boxes that are packed by our expert butchers and chefs. View our “Meat Selection Boxes” and choose the perfect box for any occasion.

Do you provide cooking and recipe suggestions?

Absolutely. We regularly share recipe ideas and cooking tips in our Butcher’s Corner. We suggest recipes like pan-seared ribeye steak with garlic butter, marinated pork loin with rosemary and honey, or slow-roasted lamb shoulder with root vegetables. Whether you’re cooking a midweek meal or preparing for a Sunday roast, you’ll find inspiration tailored to the cuts we sell.

If you’re unsure how best to prepare a specific product, just get in touch, we’re happy to help.

Do you supply larger quantities of meat for events, pubs, or catering?

Of course! We supply bulk meat orders for events, restaurants, pubs, BBQs, and caterers. If you’re planning a function or need a regular supplier, please contact us directly, and we’ll be happy to discuss wholesale pricing and custom cuts.

How do I know how much meat to order per person?

As a general guide:

For steaks/premium cuts: 200–250 g per adult
For mixed BBQ/sausages: 250–300 g per adult
For whole joints (leg of lamb, roasting joint), add 15–20% extra for bones and trimming.
