How to Clean your BBQ Ready for Summer

There is no doubt that after a long, dark, and cold winter you are itching to get your BBQ ready for the summer season with some well deserved TLC. With a touch of elbow grease, your BBQ is going to be back to its original state thanks to our tips and tricks on how to get your BBQ ready for summer.

6 Steps on How to Clean a BBQ for Summer Season

  • Select your BBQ Location

Before you get started preparing your BBQ ready for the grilling season, you will want to make sure that your BBQ is out of its winter location and in an accessible, safe place ready for its reconditioning. If you are wanting your BBQ to stay outside, then it is recommended to invest in a well-protected BBQ cover to ensure that it stays in a clean and tidy state, and make sure to keep it out of sunlight as it can damage the exterior of your charcoal grill.

  • BBQ Inspection

Once you have removed any excess food and grease from your BBQ grill it’s time to give it a full inspection to ensure it is working properly. This is an opportunity to check it over for any signs of rust and corrosion, especially if your BBQ has been hidden in the garage over the cold months.

This is also important to check that you still have all of your BBQ utensils and your coal. After you have visually inspected your BBQ you will be aware of any cracks or issues with your BBQ.

  • Warm your BBQ up

The first most important step to revamping your grill ready for summer is to heat it up! Heating up your BBQ will remove any excess food and grease that has built up from last year. Once it is heated, you will be able to easily remove it.

  • Clean your BBQ

Once you have heated the excess debris from your BBQ you can start by removing it with a wired grill brush. Then you will need to clean your grill by cleaning the cooking grill grate by leaving it to soak for 15 minutes in hot soapy water and dishwashing detergent. Once it has soaked, you can begin to scrub off any remaining grease and food giving it a good clean, ready to be rinsed and dried.

  • Upgrade your BBQ Utensils

Your BBQ utensils have probably been worn out with your charcoal or gas grill outside surviving the winter months, so what better time to upgrade your grill tools? From heavy-duty BBQ tool kits, wired brushes, BBQ racks, and a thermometer, there is plenty of options!

  • Buy BBQ Food
